I would like to give an update to this cron issue. It still exists. I have 3 sites, two display the error message that cron is not working in the dashboard and one does not. None work with Newsletter. I host with GoDaddy. Other sites I support work well with cron. I get reports that have been scheduled. On one site I tried a Curl command. It did nothing. When Newsletter is artificially spawned by “advanced cron manager” it runs but stops after 5 or so emails. It does not keep running. Multiple advanced cron manager clicks forces its way through the process and the newsletters run through to completion.

One main question I have is that this issue is isolated to only sites that use Newsletter Plugin. No cron processes also run on those sites. This all started around December 2019. Does your site need to communicate with an IP address? I have had many issues with hackers and have tried to do IP filtering. If the plugin needs to talk to an IP, can you tell me what it is so that I can see if it is being blocked by my protection plugins?

I do appreciate the Newsletter Plugin. It is well featured and has helped the organizations that I support with their communication strategies. For several years, I have used it with the GoDaddy sites and have had no issues. I must say it has been frustrating to provide support with the current cron issues. I am definitely looking for advice.

Added a Curl command through my cPanel for cron. Used your suggested command from documentation. What I notice is that the error message is still active on my dashboard. Since my plugin and site worked well both with the free version and the premium upgrade until upgraded late last year, I think that there is something in the plugin that has changed. The fact that I can manually run it tells me cron works when using the advanced cron manager but when I let the plugin try to start it, it does not.

I will pursue the issue more. Just adding to this posting: I can use the advanced cron manager and force the newsletter plugin to run. It runs for 5 newsletters (set at 200) and then stops. After many successive starts by the cron manager, the newsletter is successfully sent. Cron seems to work but the plugin does not seem to be initiating or sustaining the activity. If I can find more or resolve the issue, I will add to this post.
