I was testing out ‘Update My Details’ on a newsletter (sent as a Test email to me) and merely viewing the details page by clicking ‘Update my Details’ is triggering a ‘Goodbye’ and unsubscribing me. I have repeated this four times now including when logged into the control panel and when not logged in. I have not interacted in any way with the details page but I am still unsubscribed. Any idea what is going on?

(I have two mailing lists and the Newsletter causing the problem is NOT from the one you sign up to on the site – the subscriber list is manually managed).

I considered adding a link to the Details page here but I expect that means anyone viewing this item would be able to unsubscribe me forever. The site is at https://st-georges-singers.org.uk/

So this happened six times and I was trying to pin down what triggered it (closing the tab? hovering over unsubscribe?). As part of my investigation I restarted the (Edge on PC) browser and now can’t reproduce the problem. Hopefully a transient weirdness. I will reply again if it re-occurs.

(D’oh – it just happened again in the new browser while I had time to edit the reply…)

    Hello,

this may be caused by an automatic unsubscription. Is your email address on the same domain?

If you mean is my email address in the same domain as the web site then the answer is no though it is hosted by the same server in a different domain (actually just re-directed to gmail). My email address is the main admin email for the site in WordPress.

    Hello,

please try to go to Subscribers > Unsubscription and set default messages, if you have changed them. (Just uncheck “customize”). then perform another test.

I’m afraid all messages on the Unsubscribe tab are default and have never been changed.

If this behaviour only happens for me I can live with it but it would be a problem if this was happening for everyone. I’ll try a test later by subscribing with a different address (probably my wife’s…)

    Hello,

I just tried to subscribe to your newsletter and I can confirm everything works as expected: I was able to edit my profile without being unsubscribed.

Hi Michael. I don’t know if it makes any difference but the Newsletter in question is on a different mailing list that you can’t sign up to on the web site – it is manually managed.

Anyway I repeated your experiment using my wife’s email with the draft Newsletter and it all works fine for her – it must be some quirk of me being the admin/author/sender of the test mailing. So long as it isn’t unsubscribing genuine recipients I’m happy to ignore it…

Many thanks for looking into this.
