unable to create newsletter – undefined function

getting this error when trying to create new newsletter:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_normalize_path() in /home/noondaysale/public_html/wp-content/plugins/newsletter/emails/emails.php on line 1031

and this is running on quite an old wordpress site, 3.5.2
…i know, crazy, but most of the plugin seems to be working, just can’t get new newsletter to do anything…

also getting this error when trying to preview previously created newsletter:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_unslash() in /home/noondaysale/public_html/wp-content/plugins/widgets-on-pages/freemius/includes/fs-core-functions.php on line 317
