Subscriber notifications being sent multiple times

I’m getting a lot of my subscriber notifications sent out twice by the plugin – any idea why or how to fix this?

are you referring to the admin notification emails that you get when a new subscriber joins?

Hi Michael, yes those are the ones. They’re almost always coming twice – it’s eating up my SMTP quota so I had to turn them off.

could you share with us an example of the two notifications you are getting? Are you sure there are no cc’s? Or maybe you’re using another form plugin with notifications turned on?

Hi Michael,

Here are screenshots from WP Mail Logging showing the messages being sent twice, and one with the headers. The only other plugin I have that sends notifications is Smart Forms, and it’s never had an issue. These are definitely from Newsletter. It doesn’t happen on every subscription, which is even weirder….

Hello Jen,

please activate logging by going to Settings > General Settings > Advanced, then simulate a new subscription and paste here a copy of the logs.

Also, you can check if there are double subscriptions (which can be a cause) by going to the Subscriber detail and check the logs for that particular user (pick one for whom you’ve received a double notification).
