Remove welcome page redirection

Hi all,

I added the newsletter form to my sidebar on my wordpress website using the shortcode and all works perfectly. However, users get annoyed that when they subscribe they get redirected to the Welcome page (and thus cannot see the page they were on anymore).
Is there an easy way how to simply show a message like “Subscription succesfull” instead of redirecting them to a new welcome page which simply shows that their subscription was succesfull?

I use very simple html for the form (pretty much the default one)
